Dr. Stefan Gilch
Managing Director Liebherr Machinery Service (Shanghai) Co. Ltd.
Shanghai (P.R. China)
Ladies and Gentlemen,
as Winfried Boehm mentioned, I will now give you an overview of our relief project in Sichuan province and then talk about our activities in China in general. Afterwards I would like to say a few words about Liebherrs earthmoving products and about Liebherr tower cranes and mixing technology here at bauma China. Christoph Kleiner will conclude our press conference with remarks on Liebherrs mobile cranes division and its activities on the Chinese market.
As you know, on May 12, 2008, an earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale hit Sichuan Province causing the death of thousands of people and leaving many people homeless. Strong aftershocks continued to hit the area even months after the main quake and caused new casualties and damage.
Many relief projects have been brought into being in order to improve lifes of people who were affected by the earthquake. Liebherr wants to contribute to this and therefore has decided to support a project for the reconstruction of an old peoples home in a district of the City of Gu Cheng in Sichuans Pingwu County. The project is financed by Liebherr and implemented together with the two charity organisations Malteser International and Caritas Internationalis which are represented in China by Jinde Charities.
In Liujiaba, a village 5 km off the City of Gucheng, a new home for the aged is going to be erected on a total area of about 4,200 sqm. This facility will offer living space for (about 120) needy elderly people from the villages of Gu Cheng and the surrounding villages of Gao Cun and Shui Tian. Currently a former school building is standing on the site that has been damaged by the earthquake. This building will be replaced by the old peoples home, a rehabilitation center and an office for social welfare. The construction work is expected to be finished in the course of the year 2009.
The aim of the project is to offer needy elderly people from the surrounding villages an adequate accommodation and provide them with easy access to care, taking into consideration a possible impairment of their physical and mental constitution. In addition to that, the facility will create new capacities for the general care for earthquake victims in Sichuan province. In this way, Liebherr supports the earthquake victims and makes a contribution to a long-term amelioration of the situation of needy elderly people in Sichuan.

Please let me now introduce the exhibits of our Construction Cranes and Mixing Technology division to you. This division employs more than 4,000 people. The divisional controlling company is Liebherr-CMCtec GmbH in Biberach/Riss (Germany).
Liebherrs Construction Cranes and Mixing Technology division offers one of the worlds most comprehensive construction crane programmes. Manufacturing sites for these products are located in Biberach (Germany) and Pamplona (Spain). At bauma China, Liebherrs crane programme is represented by the 160 HC-L 8/16, a luffing jib crane that is designed for work on particularly high buildings or in extremely restricted spaces. It is equipped with state-of-the-art high-performance drives C only variable frequency drives with continuous control are used for this crane. Liebherrs luffing jib cranes in the HC-L series boast pioneering technology in the form of a horizontal load path. This function can be switched on or off by the crane driver depending on requirements. When the function is used, the control unit adjusts the hoist gear in such a way that the load hook is moved along a horizontal path. The superimposed movement of the jib and the hoist gear is also possible at any time.
Liebherrs Construction Cranes and Mixing Technology division furthermore manufactures mobile and stationary mixing plant for the production of high-quality concrete, and also the truck mixers used for transporting it. Control and measuring equipment and recycling systems complete the product range. Manufacturing and assembly facilities for Liebherr mixing technology are operated in Bad Schussenried (Germany), Rayong (Thailand), Guaratinguet (Brazil), Pamplona (Spain) and C as I mentioned already C in Xuzhou (P.R. China).
From the mixing technology product range we have the new Compactmix 1.0 batching plant and the two truck mixers HTM 1004 and HTM 1204 on display. A twin-shaft mixer type DW 3.0 and an LRS-type recycling system for residual concrete complement our mixing technology on show here in Shanghai.
The Compactmix 1.0 is a novelty in Liebherr's extensive range of batching plants.
The Compactmix 1.0 is a novelty in Liebherrs range of batching plants. It was first introduced to the market in 2007. This compactly designed batching plant is capable of a maximum discharge output of 60 m³ of hardened concrete per hour. It features a space-saving overall concept and a flexible 180 truck mixer approach angle underneath the plant which enables to position the mixer in a relatively small area. Most of the steel parts are zinc-coated, which ensures an excellent corrosion protection and a long working life. The Compactmix 1.0 has been optimized for low cost transport in containers. The plant with inline silo can be transported on three trailers, for each further cement silo a new trailer is required. The erecting time of the plant including bringing into service is about four days.
Above all, the Compactmix 1.0 is a mixing plant for operation as a readymix concrete plant. Thanks to the modular concept and the optional steel foundations this plant is also excellent for job-site production. This compact concrete plant is also interesting for pre-cast elements and concrete product industry.
Further more, two truck mixers of Liebherrs most recent generation are on display at our booth: Type HTM 1004 with 10 m³ nominal content on 3-axles chassis and type HTM 1204 with 12 m³ nominal content on 4-axles chassis. The mixer drums are made of wear-resistant steel. Like all our truck mixers, these machines are easy to maintain and combine maximum benefit with long service life. Both mixers come from Liebherrs production facility in Xuzhou.
This brings me to the end of my remarks. Thank you for your kind attention.
